Last week was a crazy week. I was working some late nights, in meetings all day long, and found out one of my best friends had been burned pretty badly.
I probably played less poker this past week than I have in a long time. I played a few small tourneys here and there while watching TV and I didn't play any cash games. I couldn't get into poker with everything else that was going on.
Eric Update
I went to visit Eric on Thursday. He looked a lot better than expected. His face didn't get burned that bad - compared to his other burns. I'm not a doctor, but I would guess that in a few months, you will hardly be able to tell that his faced was burned. His legs, arms, hands, and chest are (according to the nurse) about the worst possible 2nd degree burns that you could have - bordering on 3rd degree. She seemed to think that over time the majority of his burns will hardly be noticeable. He has a long recovery period, but his life should be back to normal in a few months - other than some scarring and a possible battle with his insurance company.

Weeeeeeee... I mean Wii
I went into Best Buy on Friday and they put a ton of the Wii Game systems on the floor. I had been considering buying one for the last few weeks, but had heard the stores had trouble keeping them in stock. A few minutes later, I left the store with a Wii, a extra numchuck controller, a classic controller, Wii Play with an additional remote, and a 2000 point Wii card to dl classic games.
My wife was out of town for the weekend, so I was watching the kids. I played the Wii until about 2 am both nights after they went to bed. My 5 year old daughter is already getting the hang of Wii bowling and is loving it. I think my next Wii purchase will be Mario Party 8, since it looks like a fun game for my wife and I to play with our daughter.
My favorites so far are Wii Bowling, Wii Golf, and the classic games that I have downloaded.
Any suggestions on some good games? I'm mainly looking for games the whole family can play together or some that my wife and I can play after the kids go to bed. FWIW, my wife is a big Area 51 arcade game fan - any games like that out there?

Getting Back to Playing this Week
I am going to try to get back to grinding some cash games this week.
I am helping man a booth tomorrow night for an organization that I belong to and may try to head to a home cash games afterwards.
I haven't played any WCOOP events or satellites. I'm not sure if I will. I can't really see myself playing in a tourney that starts at 4:30 PM and finishes 11 AM. I don't have that kind of time to devote to a tourney. I love the structure though. I saw a few posts on P5s saying that the amount of time for a WCOOP tourney was too long and that they should change the structure. I strongly disagree. It is great to have a structure that favors skill over luck. If the amount of time required to play one of the events is too long for you, then don't play. It is kind of like playing in a WPT or WSOP event - not everyone can take a week off work to play a WPT event.
Good Luck at the tables. Back to poker content this week........

Hey, I found your blog through some others, and it is a great read. How old is your daughter? I have a 4-year old, but I'm not sure if she'll get the hang of the Wii yet, or if I should wait. I want one for myself, and I'm sure the wife would play some, but I'd like to get it when the kids can start handling it.

Glad to hear your friend is making a recovery.
Btw, any word on when sbrugby's video will come in from your HU match?

King - She is 5, almost 6 and loves the game. There are a lot of games that your 4 yr old will be able to get the hang of.
Alan - Last I heard, sbrugby had a problem uploading it b4 heading to London and was going to upload it once he got back to the states. So, it should be soon. I'll let you know as soon as I get it.
